Ze Frank published a great little flash toy that uses your computer’s microphone and your voice to draw pictures. Simply hit different pitches and volumes and the continually scribbling cursor will react in direction and stroke width. Very fun. I played a few different kinds of music to see how it would react. It seems to likes Bon Iver and Cat Power, and Arcade Fire okay, but really takes a shining to Aerosmith’s “Livin’ on The Edge.” It almost drew America! On the other hand, it doesn’t appear to take too kindly to Dolly Parton “It’s All Wrong, But It’s Alright.” So how smart could it really be? What do YOU see in these images?

Doesn’t this almost look like the good old US of A? Look, it even has Alaska, and the Great Lakes! Florida looks a little off, though.

As you can see it didn’t react too well to Dolly… or maaaybe it drew a flower. Results inconclusive.
The application only takes into account volume and not pitch?
